Just before the parade, head down to the Michigan Avenue or Columbus Drive Bridge to see the Chicago river turn green before your eyes! The dye is fish-friendly, and the river returns to its usual murky shade by nightfall. This tradition is free to see and starts at 9AM, so get there early to get a good view of this urban recreation! The best way to see the festivities is on St. Patrick's Day Booze Cruises on The Green River and Lake Michigan!
