2005: Alex and John met in the theater department of University of Houston where the friendship and tongue-in-cheek flirting began.

Fall of 2005: They were both cast in their first main stage show together, Lanford Wilson’s The Fifth of July, directed by our fearless professor/leader/mentor, Carolyn Boone.

In 2011, John and Alex both moved to Los Angeles (independently of each other...although Alex moved months before John- so you may make your own conclusions) 😉

They then spent 4-5 years continuing to cultivate their friendship and ONLY FRIENDSHIP on the west coast...what John calls, “the extreme LONG GAME”

Until the fall of 2015... One hot, L.A. evening...when they stayed up all night drinking whiskey, eating apple boats and talking about life- past/present/future. The flame was officially lit. 🔥

After secretly dating for several months, John and Alex snuck away to Ojai, Ca for their, first of many, weekend get-aways.

That was the beginning of the end, so they say. They’ve been “more than friends” ever since.

John and Alex spent the next 3 years goofing off together,

Traveling to far off beaches,

Falling madly in love with each other,

Breaking in the best camping spots around California,

And trying to perfect the “couple selfie” with a disposable camera.

Until one fall day in September of 2017...

John whisked Alex away to Paris.

Where he got down on one knee on the St. Louis Bridge (While his buddy secretly took pictures amongst a sea of uninterested Parisians...)

Despite her very casual, nonchalant stance in this photo, Alex was extremely taken off guard due to the fact that they never went ring shopping together (John didn’t see the need to ruin the surprise)

But her response was something along the lines of...”its about d*** time!” (Or maybe that was her inner dialogue...it was kind of a blur of excitement)

They continued their celebration in Italy, where they ended up finding the quaintest, most perfect, little island to bask in their new engagement.

John then dragged Alex to an engagement photo shoot in Malibu, Ca.

Where they tried to capture stock footage of what an ideal “happy, engaged couple” should look like.

Did it work?
(JK... we love our pictures and we love Melodic View Photography!!)

But seriously...if you know of any great camping spots, please send them our way. We have a lifetime of breaking in new camp sites ahead of us.
