How We Met

2019

Our love story unfolded through the unique twists of fate and the magic of social media. Both of us had worked at the same vintage store in Dallas, but our paths never crossed during those times. It wasn't until the serendipitous workings of the Instagram algorithm that our destinies collided. Daniel took the first step by following Claire, who, intrigued by what she saw, reciprocated the connection. Despite the initial online connection, it took a few years for us to transition from virtual interaction to our first real-life date. However, once that moment arrived, the rest became a beautiful history of shared laughter, deep conversations, and the undeniable chemistry that marked the beginning of our journey together.

The First Date

First comes Sonic, then comes the ER.

Our first date was truly one for the books. It kicked off with a chopper ride to Sonic, where we ordered root beer and fries. Daniel, aiming for an unforgettable experience, suggested a visit to Clyde Barrow's grave – yes, the Clyde from Bonnie and Clyde. As we dismounted the motorcycle at the grave site, an unexpected mishap occurred. Claire accidentally gashed her leg on Daniel's sissy bar, turning the adventure into an unexpected detour to the ER. The night concluded with Claire receiving 12 stitches and a tetanus shot, making it a first date etched in our memories forever. From that day forward, we affectionately dubbed the bike "Lil' Tetanus," a humorous reminder of the unexpected twists that marked the beginning of our journey together.

The Proposal

8.21.23

Nestled in our hearts is a cherished place in Victoria that we affectionately refer to as "The Bridge." This scenic spot holds a special place in our shared memories, providing the perfect destination for an end-of-day motorcycle ride. One memorable evening, Daniel took Claire to this favorite location to witness the sunset, accompanied by the arrival of barge ships from the ocean below. It was against this picturesque backdrop that Daniel asked Claire to be his wife. In the soft glow of the setting sun, Claire's answer, a resounding YES. "The Bridge" not only witnessed the beauty of nature but also became the backdrop for the start of our journey toward a lifetime of shared sunsets and enduring love.
