We're Getting Married!

Derick and Ashley met in high school, TEN years ago. Derick was a stud on the wrestling team (who am I kidding, he's still a stud) and Ashley was a mat maid; but this isn't how they started dating. Derick was home on a school night going about his business and wanted to talk to Ashley so he texted her. Meaning to text his sister in college, but his now fiancé is the Ashley that received the message. Confused at first, but didn't mind, Ashley continued texting him and before they knew it they scheduled their first date. Derick was a Senior and Ashley a Junior when their relationship began. Derick would soon be heading to college and Ashley finishing high school but that didn't stop their love from growing. The summer before Derick went off to BGSU the two fell head over heels in love with each other. After a year of searching for schools, Ashley followed Derick to BGSU where the chanted Ay Ziggy Zoomba, spent too many nights out, and created lifelong friendships. Distance was never an issue for them Derick spent many semesters completing internships and eventually moved to Cleveland while Ashley was finishing her studies. There was no question about it that when she graduated they would live together. After a couple years of apartments & duplexes they bought their first house in Rocky River where they live happily & in love!

Now let me preface this story with this was not the plan. Derick wanted so badly to propose at the place where he fell in love with Ashley; the arch in the Cliffs where they watched many sunsets together. But the weekend of the planned proposal Ashley got invited to a Shania Twain concert, how was she to say no?! With his plans ruined he quickly came up with a new idea since he was so excited to ask the girl of his dreams to marry him. It was a very hot summer day in July. Ashley was on summer break & Derick was about to have a nice holiday break. The two had planned to check out some Metroparks and go out to eat when Derick was done working. Since it was so hot out Ashley was very adamant about not doing the Metroparks and saving it for another day. Derick wasn't having it. So they drove to the parks, walked around a bit, and found a picnic table on the beach to sit and look at the water. Before Ashley knew it, with a swift kiss on the cheek, Derick was James Bond rolling off of the table in one motion on to his knee, flipped open the ring box, and ask "What do ya think?" Ashley, speechless with the swift, agile movements, but mostly because the love of her life was finally asking her the question she was dying to hear. She of course said yes!
