We met at the wedding of good friends in fall of 2019. Johanna first noticed Connor after his unhinged best-man speech. Connor first noticed Johanna as being the tallest girl in the room. And pretty too. After Connor's friend-request on facebook, hours of due diligence, and a well thought out direct message, Johanna and Connor shared their first date in Hampden, Baltimore. Four hours of good conversation and a couple cups of plain black coffee later, Connor trepidatiously requested a second date. The rest, you could say, is history. When we talk about our relationship more seriously, one of the things we are overwhelmed with as we look back over our story is the perfect timing of our Savior and His deep love for us. We say all the time that our relationship growing and maturing into the treasure and joy we experience daily has less to do with how "perfect" we are for each other and more to do with God's perfect timing and how He has changed us and prepared us for each other over the past couple of years. Through all of the changes and challenges the past year and a half have brought to our relationship - traveling between Baltimore and Delaware to spend time together, COVID, graduating school, job changes, moves to different states, and learning to stay sane as healthcare workers in a pandemic - God has sustained and provided consistent reassurance of His plan for us. We are perhaps most thankful for those uncertain, anxiety - producing moments because they have only drawn us closer to each other and to the heart of our Savior. And because of them, we are finding ourselves living out the promise of longterm joy that is found only in Christ and in the perfect gifts He gives to His children. We are so excited to share in that longterm joy with all of you!
