We met as graduate students at CCM. Sarah had just traveled 8,000 miles from Taiwan, the first time she left the country on her own. Johan just had to travel the comparatively meager 900 miles from Boston. We began to get to know one another when working as members of the chorus for CCM's production of 'Bartarred Bride' and became close friends, and a year later started dating.

After graduating, we moved to Miami. Sarah was pursuing her DMA at Frost School while Johan was making a living teaching privately. After a couple of years, Johan decided that even though he loved his life in Miami, he felt he still had more to learn and decided to go and pursue another degree at NEC in Boston. Living so far apart from one another for two years was difficult, and we often couldn't see each other for months at a time, but we feel it made us stronger as a couple. While still living in Boston, Johan surprised Sarah with a proposal on Miami Beach at midnight at the end of August (Sarah of course said yes). The night was perfect, we even saw a shooting star while lying on the sand.

Even though we live in NJ now, we still consider Miami our home. The amazing weather, great beaches, year-long sunshine, not to mention all of our friends, we would never even dream of getting married anywhere else!
