Neither of us ever wanted a big, extravagant wedding (not that there's anything wrong with that). We'd like this day to be relaxed and low-key. We want to break bread with the people who matter to us, who've taught us what love means, and those who we hope will be there to support us in our next chapter together. Come eat, drink, and be merry! If you know us, and you should since you're getting this invite, hopefully this makes sense to you.
Nope! Some family members are arriving on Thursday to get settled in and be well-rested so they can look their best in photos on Friday but if you prefer to arrive on Friday, then by all means. Just allow for time to get through the magnetometer at the courthouse! For anyone who does want to come on Thursday, we can get an informal bite together and hang out in Midtown.
Nope! We have a small enough group that it didn't make sense to do so. The couple and some family members are staying at Andaz 5th Ave in Midtown from Thursday 5/29 - Saturday 5/31. You're welcome to join us, pending availability, but this isn't terribly close to the courthouse or restaurant so a link to hotels in lower Manhattan is provided on the Travel page.
Be there by 330pm latest to get through the magnetometers. Joe and Chloe will be there earlier for photos (you're welcome to hang with us and be in the photos). The courtroom is reserved from ~2pm - 430pm as FYI.
Cocktail hour, plenty of booze and wine, and family-style Italian food. We are not having a DJ or dancefloor. We really want our loved ones to enjoy their food and to mingle with each other more than anything. And we want you to hear each other... We will make you leave your tables and go chat with each other. We may still subject you to a liquor-fueled speech from Jimmy, who knows?
Also no! The real gift is you joining us for our big day. Don't worry about gifts. Seriously.
We've been together for almost 8 years and we've known each other more than a decade. For all intents and purposes, this just formalizes what we've felt for a long time. So why wait? Also, Joe is starting a residency program in June and will have very little free time for the next 2 years, so something beautiful and small right now is just the thing we want.
