and so our adventure begins

For most, including our beloved McClain and Joey, CU Boulder was a playground of debauchery (cough academic excellence, sorry mom and dad) for incoming freshman. Our sweet Joey loved to play guitar outside of Farrand Field while McClain was busy riding the bus from the WillVille dorms to main campus. Luckily fates aligned and mutual friends would introduce them a few weeks into their first semester. For Joey it was love at first sight, for McClain it was going to take a little more than a few drunken phone calls and flowery compliments to win her over. But nevertheless, he persisted. Their first kiss (while Joey would argue the exact date) took place sophomore year in McClain and Bryn’s “treehouse”. For the next few years there was a lot of Weerbine consumed, buff losses to endure and laughs to be had, but more importantly, a friendship developed first. Then one fateful Tuesday night (Ladies Night at the Goose) their senior year Joey would ask McClain to be his girlfriend. A few years and some time on a farm later they could not imagine their lives without one another.

Joey surprised McClain as she was returning from France with dinner downtown. Snow was falling lightly as they pulled into Union Station. Joey led McClain up the steps to the train departure overlook.. confused and hungry McClain followed. At the middle of the bridge Joey got down on one knee and told her there is no one in the world he’d rather adventure with and asked her if she’d marry him. With tears in her eyes she gleefully exclaimed, "Of course!" An old house a young dog and a few adventures later they are quite happy with the life they’ve built together and even more excited for the life that’s yet to come.
