We met during interviews for the co-op program at Clemson University in 2014 -- and a fun fact, Jess didn't really like Joey! But boy did he prove her wrong. We became friends working at BMW in Greenville, SC over co-op rotations in 2014 and 2015. When returning to Clemson, we had a bunch of classes together as we were both studying Industrial Engineering, so we sat together and ended up meeting up in the library to study and work on projects together. Over time, we got to know each other really well and officially started dating April 18, 2015. After about three years of long distance, Jess finally moved to Atlanta, GA to be with Joey -- and the rest is history!
For our four year dating anniversary, we planned a trip to California, where we would visit San Francisco and Napa, including a trip to the famous restaurant The French Laundry. We began planning in December 2018, making reservations for this highly anticipated meal on January 1, 2019. The first day was spent bopping around San Francisco and meeting up with some old friends for dinner -- coincidentally we had worked with them at BMW! The next morning, we woke up and drove up to Napa for our 11:30am lunch date at The French Laundry. Jess didn't sleep well and wasn't feeling great, so in true Jess fashion, she was a little grumpy. They got to the restaurant and she even tripped on the walk in. Classic Jess. The hostess asked if we would like to take a few pictures out front of the restaurant in the gorgeous little garden and courtyard, as most people enjoy these photos. Naturally, we agreed. When attempting to retrieve the camera from Jess's bag, Joey kept asking "where do you want to take pictures?" A frustrated and grumpy Jess snapped "I don't care, you can choose!" We posed for the first picture, lots of smiles and enjoying the gorgeous scenery. Joey looked at Jess and put his hand inside his jacket pocket and proceeded to get on one knee. Jess began crying hysterically, and SHE SAID YES! But, there was one more surprise. Little did Jess know, but when Joey made the lunch reservation, he had made it for 7 people! He had flown out his parents, Franz and Donna; sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Ang; and Jess's mom, Joanne! After many tears (and a few glasses of champagne), we had the BEST meal with the BEST company -- hence the BEST DAY EVER!
