We’re doing the damn thing, and getting married!

Joey and Michelle first met in October 2020 while working the 2020 Presidential Election at the Orange County Registrar of Voters in Santa Ana, California. The Registrar of Voters is the agency responsible for holding elections within Orange County. Both Michelle and Joey got temporary jobs to help with the upcoming election. Joey was working there as a data entry technician and Michelle was working there as a warehouse assistant. By chance, Joey was assigned a temporary work project that had to be completed inside the warehouse. Joey and Michelle’s paths crossed several times in the warehouse during the assignment. A few brief conversations, little jokes, and small hellos…One day afterwork Michelle made the first move by asking for Joey’s phone number - Joey likes to joke that Michelle stalked the parking lot waiting for him and then “accidentally” ran into him. That night Michelle and Joey were on the phone for hours and the first date was set the following day. Joey and Michelle initially kept their dating status secret from coworkers. Both would sneak off together for lunch everyday either in Joey’s or Michelle’s car. Their love for each other quickly grew during this time spent together. The secrecy was over when Joey asked Michelle to officially be his girlfriend, and when she said yes. 2020 is definitely a year that none of us will ever forget – mostly for negative reasons. However, for Michelle and Joey it is the year that brought them into each other’s lives
