Joey and Leah met at Central Michigan University when Joey was a freshman and Leah was a sophomore. Leah was dropping her friends off and Joey needed a ride home. They got to talking in the car and Joey "forgot" his wallet in her backseat. The next day, Joey went to Leah's to grab the wallet, and as a thank you, offered to take Leah to dinner at The Italian Oven. So nervous, Leah goes to dinner with Joey and they realized they had a science class together. They sat together for the rest of the semester and became good friends throughout the summer. It wasn't until the fall of 2016 when Joey and Leah officially started dating and the rest is history!

Joey and Leah had tickets to go visit the Edge NYC in Hudson Yards, New York. Joey seemed a bit nervous but Leah thought nothing of it because Joey is afraid of heights and they were about 80+ floors up with a glass floor on a glass deck! They wanted to get a photo together with the view in the background and Joey asked a random stranger to take their photo. Before they could take even two pictures Joey turns to Leah and gets down on one knee and proposes! And of course, Leah said "YES" and they were engaged!
