I didn't plan on falling in love with you and I doubt you planned on fallen in love with me. But once we met, it was clear neither of us could control what would happen to us. -The Notebook A story of sorts, back to when we were just teenagers at the Sauk County Fair in the show ring. The first couple years we didn't know each others names it was simple Hey.. and a good luck passing through the ring. Adam having eyes everyway but mine haha. Then one summer another fair has come it being my end of senior year and Adams second year at college being his last fair at the time. This year I intentionally made myself more known, wed exchange a few words, par take in a wash rack water fight and exchange numbers, but that summer would end and we both leave for college. Then that fall of 2011 and I'm home for a weekend. We see each other in passing in town, and well then I guess I caught his eye and like any start of a relationship in our era the texts and messages began, leading to spending Christmas break together inseparable. We'd spend the next two years together, lots of parties had, movies watched, warm campfires and lots of backroads traveled. Our hearts were matched, but soon a time came where maybe we both weren't ready, our education and careers took a front seat, and we became just friends as we both began to explore the paths that God was showing us not knowing indeed there was something more. Until the spring of 2020 we find ourselves both single again and our families being the acquaintances that they are, and us knowing that but just set in our ways we both just kept doing our own thing. Then one night I see my phone light up and see his name on the screen... First instinct I chucked my phone to the ground in total shock and I let it ring, then it'd go again and by the second or third time I answer with hello is this a emergency or butt dial or do you need something because why would you ever call me..... Still in surprise and aww the good kind when you get butterflies inside because you never thought this day would come he says no just calling to see how you are... LOL. I play it tough like, I'm good went back to school and farming full time with my dad, conversation continues to him asking if we could hang out. So that next night we hung out and chatted our ears off to each other again like we never missed a beat just sitting on the porch with a couple beers in hand the hours passed and its 12 am and we said goodbye. But it would no longer be a last goodbye, our story of two teenagers in love, the fire was re ignited and we both recognized our feelings for each other never left and the road God intended us to take led us who we are now. The dates began as we shared stories with each other, more backroads traveled, nights on the water, and on the farm we fell in love all over again. Our love grew even more when we welcomed our wild free spirited kind loving beautiful baby girl to the world Raley Mae, bringing us to this next chapter which we couldn't be more excited to keep exploring our future together.
We set out to Montana for a week of mule deer hunting, accompanied by Sarah and Kyran Horkan. We made the drive to South Dakota for the first night eating dinner in a college pub bar where the old fashions were not like home. To then booking a stay in the Rushmore hotel for the evening starting the memories from there as in the midst of the night the fire alarms were alarmed and we had to evacuate the hotel at 2am going down 5 flights of stairs " this trips out to get us now" - Kyran. None the less it made a good start to the next morning continuing our way stopping at the historic Mt Rushmore. We made it to Doonan Gulch outfitters other known as Greenwoods Ranch in Broadus MT, family of Adams. Here we would spend the week hunting muleys deep into the mountains, exploring and seeing the beautiful land. With our luck we saw all four seasons of weather along the way, glassing over the mountains trying to track the beautiful creatures, spending the nights around the dinner table and fire sipping whiskey reminiscing the day on how to be successful the next. As the week neared to an end we got down to the last couple of days with not the best luck, then a cold front pushed threw again and we found a herd of them making our way to them and Kyran tagging a great buck, with a story to last a life time! The last day had came and we went out in the hopes Adam or I could also fill our tag, going and tracking to the same area as day before. Spending most of our day hiking miles and miles tracking a herd of muleys until shooting time closed the muleys got the best of us. Little did I know the 3 of them had a plan, Adams plan hoping to be that we could harvest a muley together with an extra surprise, he had another plan up his sleeve. As we made our way down the mountain, we pulled off on a peak so I could pee in the woods. Low and behold I hop back in the truck and they say we've got Muleys just over a ridge, so we get out and as were all crawling low to reach the point of the ridge on the mountain... He goes for it, there in the mountains sunset and all with a herd of Elk below us.. my favorite farm boy I fell in love with many many years ago asked me to spend forever with him.
