Sarah moved to the Philippines in late 2018 with a one year commitment to serve as a missionary in Asia. Joezer was part of the local outreach team serving all over the Philippines. February 2019 they met at the mission house in Cebu. Joezer still remembers the colors Sarah was wearing. Later that year, they started showing interest in each other. Joezer took Sarah out for a lunch date before she went back to the States. After she left, they decided not to pursue a relationship. He ghosted her because he didn’t think that it would work at that time. During the 3 years of no communication, Joezer started seeing Sarah in his dreams. Meanwhile, Sarah never stopped praying for him. Sarah returned to the Philippines in February 2023 for a month to do outreaches. During this time, they reconnected, and at the end of the month, he asked to court her. It was 4 years after they first met. Sarah left right after to go to Ethiopia until June. Sarah then returned to the Philippines in June to help with more outreaches. During her time there, Joezer asked her one night during a conversation about marriage, ‘Are you all in?’ She said yes. And just like that they started planning a wedding. He officially gave her the ring on Christmas Eve at the place where they first met. That’s the moment the reality set in and they felt overwhelmed with joy. Joezer and Sarah are very excited to go on a journey together, bringing the gospel to the nations. They both have accepted the call to go to Africa and beyond for Jesus.
