The Comedy of Romeo and Juliet. On this stage in fair Trinity University, a love blossomed - but not between Romeo and Juliet. Despite it being the height of the pandemic, this production brought Joelle and Violet closer than they expected. There were many exchanged glances, dances, and hands brushing backstage. And that is where it halted… until a month after the production when Violet asked Joelle out after some (not so) subtle pushing by their mutual friends. The month gap after the show makes this decidedly *not* a showmance. Through their time at Trinity, Joelle and Violet participated in several more productions together, served on officer boards for TUPS (Trinity’s student run theatre production company), and supported each other through mind numbing amounts of projects and homework. Six months after graduation, Violet and Joelle planned a weekend getaway in the hill country, which they spent relaxing, eating charcuterie, and attempted stargazing (no thanks to cloud cover). But the true purpose of their trip was the ring exchange ceremony where they became officially engaged! Over the last year they have moved in together and operate a happy household with many small houseplants and their cats, Lona and Sophie. The couple looks forward to many more happy years together, and likely several more cats.
