We first met at what was supposed to be a casual Friday happy hour date (that we both almost backed out of) at a patio overlooking the Charleston harbor. Little did we know that we'd spend the next 5 hours non-stop talking and actually shutting the restaurant down. To say that there were both literal and figurative fireworks flying that night would be accurate as there was an unexpected, huge fireworks display over the harbor that night. We then made our way over to our favorite live music venue in Charleston, The Commodore, where we danced the rest of the night away. We both have admitted that we knew this was "it" for us from the very first date & clearly, the rest is history!

Ryan went into New Years Eve 2020 with a plan: we would go to a romantic dinner, then head to the place of our first date, The Commodore, to listen to live music and dance, and then he would pack a couple of bottles of nice champagne and take me down to the Charleston Battery to watch fireworks and pop the big question at midnight. The weather, on the other hand, had different plans! While in the Commodore, it started torrentially downpouring with raging thunder and lightning so Ryan had to quickly come up with a "plan B". Anxious to propose and with a little liquid courage, Ryan brought me out to the dance floor where he stopped mid-song and pulled the ring out of his pocket! We're pretty positive there was no actual question asked and there was no actual "yes", but I immediately grabbed him in a long hug, and "plan B" became the best proposal that was very "us"! We then celebrated with some of our closest friends and said adios to 2020!
