We met during move in day in college in August 2010. As we got to know each other throughout that first year, a friendship formed. But as many of our friends stated throughout college, it was only a matter of time before our friendship would blossom into something further. And they were right. 6 years later, James asked Joelle out for shrimp tacos on Valentines Day. In what Joelle still describes to this day as “the worst first date ever” because James was awkward.....and wore a sweater vest. But clearly his charm worked somehow, someway, despite his questionable fashion choices. By the summer, we were an item and made it official that fall in Montauk. From there on, our love grew shore to shore in Long Beach, Fire Island, and Montauk. Making memories with friends and loved ones - building a future that brings love, good times, good company and a lot of laughs. Then on December 11th 2021, a whale washed ashore in Long Beach, NY. Spotted by Joelle’s brother, she said we must rush to the boardwalk. When arriving to the boardwalk she didn’t find a whale. Instead she found James getting down on one knee.
