Our Story

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 Anyone who has met Joel knows he is a bold man with a heart to follow Jesus and use his life to live on mission for God. Joel had been preparing and praying for a wife that could serve and grow along side him with this mission. So why not post on Facebook asking for recommendations or potential opportunities to meet a possible ride or die? SaraBeth was the last person that would use Facebook for anything, let alone a way to find a future spouse. But the best stories come from the moments we never saw coming. Joel’s friend Noelle saw the post on Facebook and thought of SaraBeth, whom she went to church with. She forwarded this post to SaraBeth (who had to make a Facebook account just to read the whole thing) and it led to Joel and SaraBeth meeting at Wade’s in Spartanburg for a first date. A following date at Starbucks the next week, and then a date at the park where Joel was left quite impressed by SaraBeth’s ability to do 10 pull-ups (which is nothing compared to what Joel can do!). What more could you ask for. Flash forward to the present, and God has been so good to us. Over our dating relationship we have enjoyed doing pottery together, Bible studies, exercising at each other’s gyms (SaraBeth is still trying to convince Joel that CrossFit is cool), hiking in nature, working on Joel’s property (ask SaraBeth about her experience building a fence for the first time) and trying fun coffee shops in Greenville. God has brought strong mentors into our lives that have encouraged us and helped us build a strong foundation for our future marriage. We are so excited to begin this next chapter together, using our marriage to glorify God and serve His kingdom in ways we never could on our own. We can’t wait to see where He leads us and to embrace all the adventures along the way.
