We met through our mutual friend, Joel's "sister" and Reagan's maid of honor Tori Helton. Tori brought Joel to senior night at Doxology youth our senior year, and we met for the first time that night. Over the next few years the three of us started hanging out together regularly, and soon we both realized that we had developed feelings for each other. With guidance and counsel from those we trusted, we chose to move forward and date.

Joel planned to propose in April of 2020. He had a plan to take Reagan to their favorite bookstore and do it there. Unfortunately, the bookstore closed due to COVID-19. As restrictions increased, his options became more limited, but he did not want to wait to pop the question. After reflecting on what was really important about the moment, he took Reagan to a spot in his neighborhood where they had shared lots of sweet conversations throughout their friendship and dating relationship. There, he got down on one knee and asked Reagan to marry him. In case you couldn't tell, she said yes!
