We were originally supposed to go to Vancouver for a day, but someone (Joel) forgot their passport. Instead of going to Vancouver, Joel and Lien decided to go out into downtown Chicago instead and check out some new restaurants and sites that they had not been to before. What Lien did not know is that Joel had called his brother and sister to let them know what his intentions were that day in Chicago. As Joel and Lien were enjoying their morning, they were on their way to another place further north of the city when Joel had to use the restroom. He parked close to the art institute and knew that Shake Shack had a public restroom. Joel and Lien made their way to Shake Shack and found the restroom. On their way back, Joel suggested that they walk over to Maggie Daley park to try and ice skate around the famous ribbon rink. As they approached the rink, the signs said that they needed reservations to ice skate. Instead of going towards the ice rink, Joel led Lien down towards an open field where Joel had spotted his brother and sister hiding off in the distance. As they made their way on the field, Joel got down on one knee, and the rest is history.
