It all began while swiping on the Hinge app. Joel was angry that team Canada lost the hockey game. We weren’t expecting to meet the one, but from the first conversation, something just clicked. What started with sharing a pitcher of beer at the Portly Piper in Ajax quickly turned into something real. After no time at all, we were sharing with our families that we were moving in together. Tom looked at Joel, then looked at Ashley and said "you guys are really doing this eh?." We built a relationship filled with laughter, shared goals, and quiet moments that felt like home. We've traveled together, supported each other through life’s ups and downs, and discovered that the best part of any day is just sitting on the back deck eating junior chickens from McDonalds. The proposal was at Joel's family cottage on Ashley's favourite holiday, Thanksgiving weekend. Joel didn't know what to say when he proposed and Ashley did not even know what to do with the beautiful ring. We are so grateful for the journey that brought us here and for the people who have been part of it. Thank you for being in our lives. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
