How We Met

CAT Class (Preschool)

We met the first day of CAT Class (Pre-School) at the Roxana Roxarena. We had no idea then that the little boy/little girl sitting next to us at story time would become our significant other one day. Fast forwarding to 2005. This is when truly everything began. In 8th grade we went to our first of two school dances together. That dance is when the first spark started turning into some real feelings for both of us. The next school dance we went to was sophomore homecoming which furthered our interest in one another. Over the years we both kept an eye on what each other was doing, but nothing really developed fully until we rekindled and went on a date in 2017. This date involved dinner then a movie following at the Skyview drive-in movie theatre and couldn't have been a more perfect night! From there the rest was rainbows and butterflies of laughter and happiness together!

The Proposal

12.01.18

“I wanted to do something truly special for Brittany because she is truly a special person. I knew that I wanted to do something she would never forget. My plan ended up being to recreate our first date as an official couple of seeing Christmas lights at the Botanical Gardens. I received help from both of our parents and I surprised her with everyone at our favorite spot in the lighted garden. Happy tears were flowing, smiles were contagious and pictures were being snapped. She said yes!!! Everything went perfect!” -Joel “Joel planned a special night at the Botanical Gardens Christmas Lights and I was so excited to go again since this was the locations we became “official”. As soon as we walked into the gardens Joel made a left when the rest of the crowd went right and started 6’4 long legs mall walking! I asked time and time again “Joeeelll why are you going the opposite way” followed by “heyyyy wait for me”. Turns out that he was trying to get ahead of me to give our family a heads up that we were coming around the corner. As we rounded the corner to our favorite spot I instantly saw my mom and the rest of our family members, immediately knew what was going on and began to ugly happy cry from that second and even after I SAID YES! He did a great job and I loved all of the thought he put behind the details. Oh and the ring he picked was spot on!” -Brittany
