Joe and I met in Jan 2016 while we were both working at Biolife in Stevens Point. We were introduced on my 2nd day and I was trying to make a good impression on my new coworkers. I guess it worked because we quickly became friends! In April 2016 after going out with friends, Joe asked me on our first date! I said yes (after consulting my best friend) and we were officially dating only two weeks later! In May 2017 Joe graduated with his degree in Urban Forestry and had a job lined up, so we packed our bags and rented my parent's house in Oconomowoc. It was perfect as they were living in S. Korea at the time. April 2018 we had the opportunity to go visit my parents in S. Korea. I had been there before and was very excited about getting to experience it again with Joe! We flew into Seoul and spent the next few days seeing the city. Our 2nd night in Seoul I had horrible jet lag, so Joe and my parents went out to get some Korean BBQ, and make plans... April 1st we decided to go to Seoul Tower, an observation deck that overlooks Seoul. The tower has gates surrounding it covered in colorful locks. Couples can buy a lock, write their names, and attach it to the gate to signify their love. I told Joe I wanted to buy a lock and after picking it out we headed up to the gates to attach it. I asked him what we should write on it. Then he turned towards me, grabbed my hands, told me how much he loved me, and asked me to marry him! Obviously I said yes! So we wrote “Joe and Kayla, engaged 4/1/18” on our lock! After coming back home we picked a date for 2019, but life is life and we decided to reschedule. In the meantime we moved back to Central WI to be closer to Joe’s family, and in Dec 2019 we closed on our first home! After settling into our new house, we decided we needed to get back on track, and now here we are! 5 1/2 years together, 3 years engaged, 2 moves, 1 house, and a puppy later we are FINALLY getting married and we can’t wait!
