Fresh out of high school. 18 years old, cruising on Crenshaw, calling the partyline, I came across a guy named D.J. who just so happened to live in that area. Conversation seem to have come easy. Naturally, I’m dying to meet him. After some convincing, I got him to come out and hang with me. We hit it off and we stayed up talking til’ the sun came up. Our connection has been strong ever since. We have broken up and have had some amazing individual growth, making us whole individually, spiritually, mentally and physically. We have learned to take no blessed moment of life for granted and make memories to last a life time. We have learned to put God first, trust the journey and give HIM the Glory through the storm. Life is individual MOMENTS and MEMORIES placed in order to tell your story.

Several months after retiring from car clubbing, one Saturday night I was sitting at home bored. I called all my friends to see what they were doing. That was a futile exercise as no one was doing anything. Everyone was in for the night and I had no intention of reuniting with the old Car Club. Out of complete boredom, I decided to call the Party Line. At that point, I wasn't looking for much. Just a nice stimulating conversation and/or good jokes. I wasn't really expecting to get any of that, though. Much to my surprise, I got the former. I met this young lady by the name of Tiffany (IYKYK 🤣). The conversation went so well and I was so mentally stimulated. Just before I was done with the conversation and about to pack it in for the night, she asked me if I had a car and would I be willing to meet her out on "The Shaw." She was hanging out with her cousin that night. After rejecting her offer to meet her several times (I was really done with hanging out on Crenshaw. Had some bad experiences) I reluctantly gave in. We exchanged numbers and I called her directly to get her coordinates and her description so I could know who I was looking for. We met up and all I could think was, "She looks really familiar." I thought she looked like one of my ex's but better. Her skin was so smooth and chocolatety 😍. The whole time we were out there, she just kept smiling. We clearly found each other attractive so that was a great thing after having such great conversation over the phone. Eventually, she decided to hang out with me beyond hanging out on Crenshaw and her cousin was done for the night so she hopped in my car (her cousin asked me for all my personal information in case I was a crazy psychopath 😂 I abliged) and we rolled out. I took her to a nice, peaceful place with nice views and we just sat in the car continuing our stimulating conversation. We talked about everything from family, spirituality and hobbies to our relationship statuses and why we were on the Party Lin e to begin with. We even cracked open the Bible a little bit. We did that until the sun came up. It was an experience like never before. Since then, we've broken up and made up several times throughout the years. Experienced all the good and bad of life together and apart. That journey has made the present that much sweeter. We both have grown so much because of our experiences together and individually that there's no better time than now to solidify this union. This doesn't happen without putting God first and letting him lead our steps. Perhaps, it took longer than we think it should have but we both understand that we're on God's time. We're here now because HE deemed us ready.

I had no idea my life was about to change for the better as we got dressed and ready for what was suppose to be my nephew’s birthday party! Little did I know, it was a propsal for ME! He got on one knee and gave me a ring while one of our favorite songs played. He definitely understood the assignment! Such an amazing man. #Headed2Henderson

I finally got her attention. Now I needed to put my plan in motion. I recruited her sister, Jovana, in helping me pick out the perfect ring and help me put the whole plan together. I asked her nephew for his blessing to use his birthday as a front for the proposal since he wasn't planning to have a birthday party. Jovana and I recruited their mother, Alice, to rent a tent for the occasion. We worked a plan to play a particular song that she used to listen to in our early dating years leading up to me getting on one knee. Jovana and I recruited our blended children to also be a part of the process. On the day of, I kept the early part of the day really light and playful so that there was no suspicion on her part. Pretending to mack her up in Ross while the kids pretended to step in to stop me from talking to their mom. It was all fun and games until it was time to put it all together and everything came together perfectly. If you were there or seen the videos, you know what I mean.
