Let the celebrations begin!

Sarah and I have a lot of mutual friends. Because of this we actually met on two separate occasions in 2018. Sarah remembers one of them, and I remember the other. It wasn't until the end of 2019 when we matched on Hinge and Sarah, who was about to delete the dating app from her phone, reluctantly agreed to go on a date with me. The ambitious and intelligent woman I am now lucky enough to marry was in the middle of her first MBA finals week and had a lot of work events going on, but for some reason she thought interrupting all of that to meet me at the Edina Red Cow was a good idea. A few minutes in to our first date I decided I was going to do something that I normally never do on first dates - order some food. Sarah and I agreed that cheese curds sounded good and we waited for our server to come back. Long story short, our server never came back and we never ended up getting those cheese curds. But what we did get was 2-3 hours of the best conversation, the kind of conversation that you only get when you realize you're talking to someone special. Even though Sarah was working at St. Thomas when we met - and I am a Johnnie, and Johnnies and Tommies typically don't get along well :) - we bonded over our love of travel, our challenges with UST grad school, the similarities and peculiarities of our friends and family, and most importantly our love for Christ. (note: our server probably did stop by to refill our drinks, etc... but the story flows better my way). Fast forward a few months and we "officially" started dating. We went up to Sarah's family cabin in Alexandria, MN, we watched the Tommie-Johnnie basketball games at SJU, but most importantly we spent lots of time together. We then experienced a global pandemic together - filled with puzzles (which we've both realized we dislike), DIY home projects, and A LOT of movies and TV. On 5/29/2021 on the dock at her family's cabin, I asked Sarah to marry me....and she thankfully said yes :) I love you Sarah Denn.
