Like all great love stories, ours began... in the middle of a global pandemic. Melissa (Sara’s friend) and Mike (Joe’s high school buddy and roommate) decided that even in June 2021—when masks, social distancing, and an absurd amount of hand sanitizer were still the norm—love couldn’t wait. Joe started off as the strong, silent type... Emphasis on silent. But with a little (okay, a lot of) persistence, charm, and endless conversation on Sara’s part, he eventually opened up. One date led to another and the rest is history. Then, in September 2021, Sara started an acclerated nursing program —and suddenly, her life became a whirlwind of studying, stress, sleep deprivation, and occasional emotional breakdowns. That whole 15 months, Joe’s primary roles included professional emotional support, patience, and reminder that life existed outside of textbooks and clinicals. He handled it like a champ. Once Sara survived and became an RN (and Joe survived dating a nursing student), life got much sweeter. We took our first international trip together in August 2023, moved in together the next month, and by March, Joe decided he was ready to make it official—he proposed! And now, here we are—getting married and forever grateful for good friends, good timing, and the fact that Joe eventually started talking.
