During Labor Day weekend, Pearl was tricked into going camping, where she was promised no Thai people she knew would be there. Joe, on the other hand, wasn’t planning to go camping, but after Jeremy convinced him, he decided to join. While Pearl and her family went upstream, Pa’ Mew asked Joe to check on her. When Joe arrived, Pearl and her friends were struggling—Pearl's Crocs were floating away, and her aunt was being carried downstream. After helping them get upstream, Pearl let go of the rope to grab it again but ended up falling into the water while trying to climb back onto Joe’s paddleboat. Instead of helping, Joe laughed the entire time. Later, he asked if she wanted to check out the waterfall, and for safety reasons, Pearl decided to bring her cousin—just in case she got kidnapped. Little did she know, Joe had already “kidnapped” her heart.
