We met on June 3, 2023 at the wedding of our dear friends, Baxter and Madison Hays. At the after party, Baxter introduced me to Joe and somehow we ended up at a table alone talking until after 2 in the morning. We talked about anything and everything. It also came up multiple times that he lived in Hobbs, New Mexico. Yeah, I did not know that existed either. The next morning I headed back home to Kansas City bright and early. About two hours into my drive, I received a text from Joe that simply said, “Breakfast?” Right person, wrong time? I remember thinking that to myself. But sometimes you do not find the time, you make it. And this one felt different. The next day, with some encouragement from my friend Lauren, I worked up the courage to FaceTime him. Just as I went to click on his contact, I received a FaceTime from him. We talked for five hours that night and truly have not stopped talking since. Not long after, Joe booked a flight to Kansas City for our official first date at a Royals game, and the rest is history. After about a year of long distance, I moved to Hobbs. This is especially funny considering that on the night we met, Joe confidently and slightly drunkenly claimed that no one would ever move to Hobbs just for another person. From there, we officially merged our families. Gus (8lbs) and Checo (70lbs) became dog brothers, and for Valentine’s Day Joe surprised me by adding one more addition to the crew, Walter, our cat. And now here we are, ending up exactly where it all started. But this time it's OUR wedding!
