Joe and Makenzie’s story began when Makenzie decided to live in a fraternity house the summer after her freshman year of college (the best rent deal in Seattle, by far). Also living at the fraternity house was Joe. They instantly hit it off and became fast friends, talking nearly every day. After a bumpy start with their first attempt at romance, they decided to continue building their friendship. But as time passed, they both realized what they’d been missing, and decided to give it another shot. That was in 2019, and since then, they’ve shared countless adventures together: traveling, living together (including another summer at the frat house), and discovering new hobbies like camping and skiing. They also welcomed their beloved cat, Chuck, into their lives. On March 7th, 2025, while on a vacation in Maui, Joe proposed, marking the beginning of the next chapter in their love story.
