You could say baseball brought us together. Joe played in the same baseball league as my dad and brother, and eventually made his way onto their team. We ended up chatting at one of Tristan's Sunday bbqs and realized we had the same interests and goals. From there, a friendship began that turned into the most incredible relationship. In just two short years, we have gone on a number of camping trips and traveling adventures, but none more special than the trip we took to celebrate my 30th birthday. We went on a week long camping trip through coastal California, ending up in Santa Cruz (one of my favorite places to camp). On one of our last nights, the night before my birthday, we had a perfect campfire dinner and a delicious bottle of wine. Joe played "Ma Belle Evangeline," a song very special to us, and he asked me to dance. We danced by the campfire, in the forest, under the stars, and as the song ended, Joe got down on one knee. Full disclosure, I still had no idea what was going on. The ring box was shaped like a rose, something special from my favorite movie, "Beauty and The Beast" so I thought he was just giving me a rose. "How Sweet!" I thought. Then he opened the box to reveal the most sparkly, beautiful, princessesque ring I have ever seen! "Are you serious?" is all I could manage to get out. He laughed, I cried, and finally said "yes!" And we lived happily ever after.
