It all started on May 19, 2022, at the New Berlin Ale House where our teams just happened to face off on the very first night of summer league. One of my teammates knew one of his teammates, Dustin, and before long I heard through the grapevine that Joe thought I was cute. So naturally, I went over to say hi. Once I got home that night, I added him on Facebook, and we started chatting for a few weeks… until Joe took a few days to respond here and there, and I figured he probably wasn’t interested. One of the last few weeks of summer league, he bought me a drink after our games and the next week, he gave me a hug goodbye that was a little more cuddly than casual. I wondered if he was still interested after all and decided to message him again. Our teams played each other one last time that summer, and when everyone else left, we stayed at the courts and kept talking until it was just the two of us and we were asked to leave. We officially started dating that September, and our first date was seeing Shakey Graves play live at The Sylvee. Our love for each other started to grow as we discovered our common interests such as cooking, taking Sonny on walks, traveling, tackling house projects, and spending time with our favorite people as well as our shared hate for olives. Fast forward to November 27, 2024, when Joe proposed on the beach in Clearwater. My family had me convinced we were taking pictures for our Christmas card, but while everyone was taking photos of just the two of us, Joe got down on one knee and made it the easiest “yes” ever. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all September 19th, 2026!!
