By the time of our wedding day, Joe and I will celebrate being together for seven years. Time has gone by in a blink. It also, gratefully, slowed to a crawl during moments we love to relive. Our first date is one of those moments. We met at a fundraising event in New Haven that benefited an organization whose mission is to give inner city families access to locally grown food. Joe (habitually on time) was patiently waiting at the entrance for my (habitually late) arrival. We love remembering that balmy September evening when we both felt little sparks of excitement flying at the prospect of being with someone who also loved being in the Great Outdoors, dreaming big, and... bad puns. Two other frozen-in-time moments are close to our hearts. The time we hiked to the top of Mount Giant in the Adirondacks (see top photo). Such breathtaking beauty there! And when we met each other on a lunch break at Yale to skate in The Whale, the affectionately given name of the university's ice hockey rink (see bottom photo). Also that one afternoon in February during the pandemic when we took family ski lessons at Powder Ridge and watched in amazement as Jaxon flew off down the slope - starfish-style - showing little signs of slowing down (until he finally did, safely, near the lifts). And one evening last fall when we watched from our front windows as Lily, newly licensed and extremely happy, backed out of the driveway in her Scion, affectionately named Baymax, to take her maiden solo voyage to Walgreens. Many of these memories have Sunshine, our 13-year-old American Eskimo, zooming around in the background, jumping obstacles with the grace of a thoroughbred, and watching over her pack with wise eyes (or side eyes, depending on her mood). We are lucky to have found each other and thank all the stars in the universe we did. Nothing could make our day better than having you with us celebrating and dancing. We can't wait to see you.
