How We Met

Fall 2011

If you know Joe, you know he wasn't the biggest party guy in high school. Julie, on the other hand, was a lifelong social butterfly. In the fall of their junior year, Joe's best friend Dvonte finally convinced him to go to a party. When Saturday night rolled around, Joe was hoping to play video games the whole night and tried to bail. Dvonte thankfully wasn't taking no for an answer and closed Joe's laptop. Since his night was already ruined, Joe figured he may as well go to the party. There happened to be a girl named Julie at that party who thought Joe was the funniest person she had ever met and laughed all night. Joe liked having such a cute fan. The following spring, Julie, in a fortunate turn of events, failed Algebra. This left her with a free period and no one to hang out with, but as fate would have it, someone else had a free period then, none other than the funniest person she knew! Julie, in an effort to get the still very shy Joe to talk, engaged him in games of Sporcle, during which Joe could not resist the chance to reveal his mad trivia skills. One thing led to another, and after hanging out in a group of friends for a few months, Joe finally asked Julie to be his girlfriend. Julie enthusiastically said yes, in a not uncharacteristic moment of excitement, went home and woke up her mom to tell her the happy news. Ten years and six months later, these high school sweethearts are about to tie the knot, proving that good friends, poor math skills, and Sporcle sometimes add up to a fairytale romance!
