Sintra
With its rippling mountains, dewy forests thick with ferns and lichen, exotic gardens and glittering palaces, Sintra is like a page torn from a fairy tale. Its Unesco World Heritage–listed centre, Sintra-Vila, is dotted with pastel-hued manors folded into luxuriant hills that roll down to the blue Atlantic. Ericiera to Sintra is approx 30 minutes drive
Lisbon
Seven cinematic hillsides overlooking the Rio Tejo cradle Lisbon's postcard-perfect panorama of cobbled alleyways, ancient ruins and white-domed cathedrals – a captivating scene crafted over centuries. Lisbon is around 40 minutes from Ericiera, you can arrange a taxi to Lisbon for around €50-60
Tapada Nacional de Mafra
Visit the national park and enjoy a walk, take the train ride and see the animals which live in the park, have a go at mountain biking or some archery
