We absolutely LOVE this train and highly recommend you take advantage of it due to its ease of accessibility, convenience, and views. We recommend anyone in CA or coming in from out of town to utilize this. One way tickets range from $20-50 depending on the class you select. Business class is the best because you get free beer and wine ;)

San Diego is the best option as you can take the Pacific Surfliner (Amtrak/Train) from Old Town Transit Station near the airport directly into San Clemente.

John Wayne is the second best option because you can take a short uber to the Amtrak station in Santa Ana, CA.

LAX is the third best option and furthest from San Clemente, CA. Flights may be slightly cheaper but you will make up for that cheap flight in the cost of Uber's to San Clemente or for a car rental. You also have the option to Uber from LAX to the Amtrak Station in Fullerton, CA, which would be roughly a 45-55min Uber.
