We're Getting Married!

We first met at brunch on a Sunday in 2021. What started as a simple, unexpected encounter quickly grew into something extraordinary. Wrapping up from the pandemic, it felt like the perfect time to start mingling and connecting again. Both of us were single, open-hearted, and looking for something serious. Our first date was not off to the best start. We planned to go to another brunch, but it was storming and to make things worse Joe was running late. Once we sat down, we had amazing conversations, everything clicked and both felt an incredible connection. Both of us being Haitian American, we shared a deep cultural bond that only strengthened the spark. We had one of those "Like we've known each other forever" vibe. Just two months after meeting, Joe was involved in a 5-car accident that landed him in the hospital for 3 days and a lost phone. When Bertha saw a video of an accident showing a car that looked like Joe's on Facebook, she grew concerned. After not hearing from him all day, she went to his home, where she was greeted by his sister. Bertha introduced herself, expressed her concerns, asked if Joe was ok, and left her phone number. The next day, Bertha came to the hospital to make sure Joe was okay. At that moment we both knew we loved each other. Since then, we’ve faced life’s highs and lows together. From Joe’s job deployments in various cities to Bertha enrolling in school to become a respiratory therapist. It has been a journey, and we’ve built a relationship on love, faith, laughter, and unwavering support.

September 10, 2024. On what was supposed to be a casual rooftop date night to AC lounge, Bertha was surprised by family and friends and unexpected proposal from Joe. With a joyful “YES!” our next chapter officially began. Now, after years of love, growth, and countless memories, we are beyond excited to take the next step surrounded by family, friends, and most importantly, GOD. We are counting down the days to April 5, 2026, when we’ll say, “I DO” and begin a lifetime of forever, TOGETHER.
