In early 2018, Marissa started working for a series of dermatology clinics across Massachusetts. Funny enough, Joe, a complete stranger to Marissa at the time, had already been working for this same dermatology group since Summer 2017. However, Joe and Marissa were assigned to completely different clinics. Despite allegedly meeting each other at their boss’s house gathering in February 2018, as well as having mutual friends through the clinic, Joe and Marissa did not formally meet until about a month later at a mutual friend’s birthday party at an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant: fun fact, Marissa did not like sushi at the time. Nevertheless, Joe and Marissa quickly hit it off, but neither were bold enough to exchange phone numbers. So, in the spirit of how “youngins” operate these days, Joe and Marissa did not actually start talking to one another until after they matched on Tinder. Yes, Tinder. Joe and Marissa adamantly claim this, “isn’t just another Tinder wedding”, but we all know the truth. From there, the couple sent memes back and forth and bonded over a mutual experience regarding work: their friendship blossomed. The two planned to hang out with Joe’s roommate on one particular Sunday after his roommate was to return from a trip to Chicago. Joe’s roommate missed his return flight, leaving Marissa and Joe to spend the day together. They recreated some of their favorite vines, including but not limited to, "well when life gives you lemons" and "I'm a chicken nugget". Joe showed Marissa his hotdog costume he had ordered for Halloween more than half a year in advance. The two continued to bond over their eccentric and goofy lifestyle, finding mutual support from one another through tough times, and working to better understand and help each other grow. Eventually, what started as an exchange of memes will turn into an exchange of vows. Beautiful.
