Cruze Farm Ice Cream - Downtown Knoxville

Cruze Farm Ice Cream - Downtown Knoxville

445 South Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902

This ice cream is a must for us everytime we vist downtown Knoxville! Cruze Farm is a family dairy farm in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Cruze Dairy Farm story We milk Jersey cows and make fresh churned ice cream with milk from our herd. We pasteurize and bottle real churned buttermilk, whole milk, light milk, chocolate milk, coffee milk, and seasonal flavored milks. Our cows are on pasture 365 days a year and are never given hormones. Our milk is not homogenized so the cream rises to the top. You will find our milk mostly in Knoxville at Three Rivers Market, Whole Foods, and locally owned shops. Our dairy is a state approved and inspected milk processing plant. Several years ago we placed a conservation easement on our farm and hope that it will now be "a farm forever."

Mast General Store Knoxville

Mast General Store Knoxville

402 South Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902

A great store that you can spend quite a lot of time in. You will keep finding new and interesting items, and unique Knoxville and East Tennessee souvenir items. The Knoxville store has been a retail landmark in Downtown Knoxville since 1898. The building was constructed after the "Million Dollar Fire" in 1897. The fire started in a nearby hotel and destroyed the entire block on our side of the street. The flames spread so fast and were so intense that the Chattanooga Fire Department was called in to assist. They put their pumper on a train that left for Knoxville approaching speeds of 90+ miles per hour. When the building was rebuilt, it was home to the McNulty Grocery and Dry Goods Co. In 1901 M. M. Newcomer's Department Store made the move from across the street into the building at 402 South Gay Street. It was one of Knoxville's bigger stores.

Sunsphere

Sunsphere

810 Clinch Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37902

An Iconic structure in Knoxville's skyline The Sunsphere was constructed for the 1982 World's Fair and during that time, it served as the symbol to the Fair. It was also home to a full service restaurant and the Observation Deck. The Sunsphere closed to the public with the Fair's end and remained vacant or underutilized for most of its post-fair life. The Sunsphere and the Tennessee Amphitheater are the only structures that remain from the 1982 World's Fair. In 2005, Mayor Bill Haslam announced that the Sunsphere and Tennessee Amphitheater would be renovated for public use. In 2007 he announced that they would be renovated without use of taxpayer's money. Later that year, the Sunsphere's Observation Deck reopened to the public free of charge and Mayor Haslam held his Inaugural Address, for his second term in office, in the Amphitheater. In early 2008, privately-owned businesses took up residence on the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth levels of the Sunsphere.
