I work at a high school in Unicoi County where Mark's cousin Rachelle also works. One day she was catering an event for me so we were just hanging out around the food all day and I was joking about being single forever. She asked if I would be open to being set up with her cousin. I inwardly groaned because we all know how those blind date setups usually go! To make matters worse-Mark had no social media presence whatsoever so I had NO idea what he looked like or anything about him at all! Several weeks passed and I never heard anything about it. One day Rachelle messaged me and asked if I was still open. I really wasn't, but I hate to say no so I told her sure and sent her my cell. Didn't really think about it at all. A few days later-Mark called me. His number came up as a Chattanooga number so I assumed it was a college rep as I had just finished our College Signing Day at the high school. He started talking and I finally said; who is this?? He proceeded to tell me who he was and we chatted for a few minutes and then I hung up. A month went by where Mark called and texted and I somewhat gave him the cold shoulder! It turned out I had been invited to a party at Mark's house by another guy and then everyone figured out they were trying to hang out with the same girl. Mark "broke up" with me over text-before we had even met! I was telling the story to a friend at school and one of Mark's old teachers overheard and walked up to me. He said "Mark Gilbert is a good man. You need to go out with him. He then showed me Mark's Senior Yearbook picture...from 2000. He was a stud. I immediately texted Mark and we made plans to go out that weekend. : ) We met on June 4 at Yeehaw Brewery. We sat and talked for 3 1/2 hours and the next day I told my coworker I had met my husband. Exactly one year from that day Mark proposed to me at Martins Creek Falls in Erwin!
