The year was 2021, and all conventional ways of meeting someone were closed down, so Jodi's friends convinced her to join a dating website. Jodi & Jordan hit it off almost immediately chatting online and then through texts and phone calls. Eventually, Jodi through much convincing (online stranger danger) decided to meet in person on Jordan's birthday. They connected almost instantaneously as if they had been lifelong friends. Anyone who spoke with Jordan or Jodi in the weeks following knew this was something special.

Immediately after they first met, they knew that they wanted to be together and began dating. The days, weeks, and months following consisted of many kilometres driven between Winnipeg Beach and Ashern for Jodi & Jordan during one of the stormiest winters with some of the highest snowfall on record. Though they both had very busy lives, they took every opportunity they could to spend time together. From this point, Jodi and Jordan started to share their dreams and create plans for the future together. Jodi shared her dream of wanting to see the Canadian Rockies for the first time and in April of 2022 Jordan surprised her with a trip through the Rockies visiting British Columbia and Alberta, their first big trip together. The summer that followed was full of many adventures hiking, boating, camping, concerts, and carnivals.

Jordan took Jodi on a spontaneous trip to the Whiteshell during an unseasonably warm October Weekend. They spent the weekend exploring different hiking trails in Falcon Lake, Kenora and Rushing River. While hiking the river trail at sunset in Rushing River, they stopped to rest on a rock cliff overlooking a waterfall. Jordan pulled out a custom ring that he had been saving for all summer and proposed to Jodi. She said YES! Happy tears were shed on the slow hike back. The remainder of the trip was spent excitedly calling our family and friends to share the wonderful news.
