Mark: The moment it clicked for me was during Summer camp. We had both been placed as leaders of "team green," and it was the best week of my life. It seemed like God opened my eyes to just how awesome Jocelyn was! The way she opened herself to His presence, the way she encouraged and reprimanded our rowdy group of high schoolers, the way she always greeted everyone with a hug. From that moment, try as I might—I couldn't get her out of my head! What followed was a long 2 months of waiting: fasting, praying, searching the scriptures, asking for counsel. I wanted to make sure this wasn't just some girl I liked—but this was exactly who God had planned for me. Well, God really delivered! And provided proof time and again that He had been preparing her for me since before I could talk. The real decisive moment came on a cold night in September, as we were both leaving a youth group party. I was racking my brain, asking God, "Is this it? Do I tell her? Do You bless it? Is this Your will?" And God came back so soft and kind—"It's your decision, Mark. Do you choose Jocelyn?" And at that moment I knew it wasn't just God's will—this was my will too. I didn't want anyone in the world but her, and I was ready and willing to marry her. Since then—it's been an exhilarating season of love, growth, and learning about each other! God is showing me new reasons every day why Jocelyn is everything I ever could have dreamed of and more. I didn't even know how much I needed her, till God gave her to me. I invite you all to come out to our wedding and celebrate with us in the joining of your brother and sister in Christ, as we model the eventual return of our Lord Jesus, when He comes back for His church, His bride. Jocelyn: Mark and I have gone to the same church since we were kids, though we only crossed paths here and there. I even worshipped alongside his siblings for years, so I had always known of the Malyshev family—just the kind of family that truly loves Jesus, serves Him, and does life together. Mark was always serving somewhere—tech, kids ministry, youth—you name it. But when I came back from college, something shifted—Mark really caught my eye. I remember even telling one of my good friends, “If Mark Malyshev ever asked me on a date, I would NOT say no.” That summer, we ended up leading a team together at youth camp. It was such a wonderful, challenging, Holy Spirit-filled week, and I remember leaving camp thinking, wow… we actually make a really great team. About a month later, everything clicked. We were at church late one night after a big conference, cleaning up with everyone—running around, exhausted, a little chaotic. Mark came up to me and asked if I wanted to go with him to drop off extra food to some homeless people, and in that moment, it just hit me. It felt like I was seeing him clearly for the first time—not just who he was, but his heart—how much he loves God, loves people, and loves serving. And I remember thinking, wait… it’s him. The man I had been praying for since I was 17 was right in front of me the whole time. After that, he began pursuing me, and in this time, God has revealed to me more and more, just how wonderful this man is! Such a servant hearted man, who is the most ambitious guy I know. A man after the Lord's heart, and one who loves people so selflessly. My love for him grows by the day! This season has been one of the most refining, beautiful, and fruitful seasons of our lives. My excitement only continues to grow as I think about building a life with Mark and walking out God’s call together. We would love for you to join us in celebrating the beginning of our marriage—WOOHOO!!
