We are actually already married. On 2/22/22 at 2:00PM at the Wilton Library we said "I do" with a small group of family and friends. We already had our honeymoon too, a four-month cross-country road trip from NY > Seattle > Arizona > New Orleans > DC and home. But we saved the best for last, THE PARTY! We also have not said our vows or been blessed by the Buddhist monks, which are two of the most important parts for us.
Our wedding timeline is a bit unconventional partly because of us, and partly because of the US government. In October of 2020, we filed paperwork for Kook's K1 fiancee visa, which takes 3-5 months to get approved. A casual 14 months later, in late December of 2021, the government FINALLY gave us the ok and opened the 90-day window for us to get married (yes, like 90-day fiancee). Plenty of time to plan a wedding.... thanks Uncle Sam. So rather than rush to get it all done by March 20, we split the civil ceremony and spiritual ceremony/reception.
Yes of course you thought of this immediately when we asked you to save the date. Yes, it is Derby day. Joc's parents have hosted a blow-out Kentucky Derby party for 10+ years and close family friends hosted it for 40+ before Jan and Chris inherited it. So we decided to uphold the tradition and incorporate some of the fun from that party into our reception - a full betting system (father of the bride is the bookie), mint juleps and spring-time fun. So, BRING CASH.
We want you to feel comfortable. Khakis and polos for men is fine. Sundresses or casual spring outfits for ladies. Suspenders and hats are not discouraged.
We get this a lot, like basically from everyone including Joc. The following are all fine: 1. Kook - hard K's, like a crazy person 2. Gook - hard G, hard K 3. K - for after you've had a bucket of Thai whiskey His real name is Chalermrat, but Thai people all use short nicknames. His last name, Pongngarmsanga, we all give up, including Kook.
