We actually have never been here, but it is just on the outskirts of Helena making it the closest hot springs to where you're staying!
This is one we go to every now and again. If you want a quiet atmosphere, and two different temperature pools this is where to go. It also really does smell of Sulpher but is sooo relaxing. This one does not have any food or beverages provided. It's also up the windy canyon out of Townsend so unless you're confident in your winter driving abilities maybe don't go. The second closest to where you're staying.
Now, this one? This one is our most favorite hot springs, an hour drive from Townsend but totally WORTH IT. The atmosphere, the views, the temperature, the food and drinks, it's so relaxing here. Occasionally on Saturdays they will have live music in the dome, call ahead to find out. They are closed for named storms.
One of our favorite thrift stores in downtown Helena.
Also a really good thrift store and the last time we were in there they were getting ready to open the downstairs adding 13 more vendors.
A cool alley with decent food and drinks, somewhere inside to do something with the kiddos. Also, next door to this place is an indoor activity place for kids called Flying Giant with big trampolines, ball pits and more.
When we say the best burgers and shakes, we can find in Helena, we mean it.
Alright, if you can find this one, you're in for a treat. We haven't had a bad meal from here yet. It is in the "walking mall" area of downtown Helena; you will not see it while driving around. Park, get out, wander and hopefully you'll stumble across it. The first time took us probably a good hour to figure it out.
The BEST cafe in Townsend.
The first bar on the Missouri river, the bar that is catering our bar and food for the wedding, and the coolest people, tell em we sent ya! Stop in for the experience, stay for the good food & company.
We know some of you are likely flying into Bozeman, this is the coolest museum. We can literally spend hours in here. The next few things will be Bozeman attractions for anyone traveling through there or spending time there.
This is a pretty neat place for kids to explore and learn. They always have different exhibits and special activities going on. It does cost $ and Helena also has one called ExplorationWorks located at 995 carousel way.
For us personally, not our favorite and overrated. Pricey like $17-$25 per person depending on the day of the week. Has multiple pools and ice cream. Located just outside of Bozeman in Gallatin Gateway.
We have never had a bad steak from here plus the bar side is super cool and has a lot of Montana history inside.
A lively atmosphere, pricey food but worth it. Check their website for events like live music and line dancing!
This link has all the different museums, talks about the walking malls, food and drinks and many other things not mentioned above.
