Jocelyn started working for the City of Gloucester in May of 2018. Sometime in the middle of the summer she had to go up to the H.R department and ask a question. Holly was there and asked Jocelyn if she was single. Jocelyn turning red said “yes”. Holly told her all about Bryan. To Jocelyn, Bryan came off as a guy who “thought he was the worlds best thing”, so after listening to Holly, she returned to work. Fast forward to the day after Christmas in 2018, Jocelyn was at the gym and she got a facebook message from Holly. Holly said she talked to Bryan and Bryan was interested in Jocelyn. She said Bryan didn’t have any social media, and was wondering if she could give Bryan her number. Jocelyn gave Holly her number, and soon after Bryan texted her! Thank you Auntie Holly!
For those of you who have not seen the video of how Bryan proposed to Jocelyn, here is the story. It was a Thursday (Jocelyn’s late night at work) at 6:30 p.m on the dot, Jocelyn was in her car leaving City Hall. To get home quicker, she almost made an illegal turn, but since that day at work there was a retirement party and everyone important in the city was there, she decided she better not. As she was driving, she noticed a cop car behind her. She immediately got nervous, made a turn, and all of a sudden the cop’s lights went on and she panicked. Jocelyn pulled over and put her hazards on (she thought that is what you were supposed to do). She kept wondering what she did wrong. She lives 0.3 miles from City Hall. She was basically home. The cop came up to the window and said “Hi, I am Officer Silva.” Jocelyn recognized him (Bryan was just over his house helping him hang a tv), so she said “Yes Andrew, I am Jocelyn, Bryan Sanborn’s girlfriend” (not knowing why she name-dropped Bryan). Officer Silva seemed not to care and said “That’s nice, license and registration.” As he walked back to the car, Jocelyn sat there horrified. EVERYONE she worked with was passing by and looking. Jocelyn said she thought about calling Bryan, but decided she would just talk to him when she got home. The officer came back to the car and said “Do you know why I pulled you over?” Jocelyn- super nervous at this point said “No.” He then told her she had a tail light out, and asked her to get out of the car so he could show her. Jocelyn- super horrified told the cop that she totally believed him, and she was going to take care of it as soon as she arrived home. The cop took a step back, and said “Um why don’t you just come out so I can show you?” Jocelyn got out and went to the back of her car to see what tail light was out, and Bryan was down on one knee, ring in his hands. Jocelyn (who was so embarrassed and shocked) said “Bryan! What the F^*k!!!” And Bryan asked her to marry him.
