How We Met Megan and Joaquin met through her then roommate, Courtney, who was dating Dan, Joaquin’s best friend. They went out to the same group dinners and drinks a few times not thinking anything of it at the time. One night, a few weeks later, in true Megan fashion, she made the first move by asking Joaquin to meet up with her and some friends at a bar. He agreed. Joaquin arrived to the bar alone that night, without a wing man, and the two hit it off immediately (or as their friends would say, finally). Their first date was at a dive bar near their apartments as neither of them thought to make a reservation, they should have known then it was going to be a match made in heaven. Both feeling completely in their element, it ended up being the perfect, most romantic first date either of them could have wanted. They spent the whole night talking and laughing, learning more about each other becoming more taken with one another as the night went on. It was this night that Joaquin knew he wanted nights like these for the rest of his life. The Proposal Not only was it was Easter weekend, it was the weekend Megan was getting confirmed in the Catholic church. Joaquin's family came into town to celebrate her confirmation so Megan did not suspect anything at all, it was the perfect cover. On Sunday afternoon, Megan had planned to meet Joaquin and his family in Lincoln Park for an afternoon stroll and sight seeing. Little did she know, Joaquin had other plans in place. When she arrived, it was just the two of them, where he led her to a lookout over the city and dropped down to one knee and asked Megan to spend the rest of her life with him. Megan, completely surprised, gasping with excitement, (and shedding a few tears), of course said yes! They spent the rest of the evening celebrating with their families and friends. Joaquin truly outdid himself, making this the most magical day Megan had always dreamed of.
