Tapada Nacional de Mafra
Very close to our venue, lies the beautiful forest and hunting grounds (Tapada) of Mafra. Expect very beautiful walks and deer sights, the tapada can be explored on foot, on BTT, and also via a train tour (check their website for more details)
Mafra National Palace
Mafra is the nearest city to our wedding venue, so if you are staying there or want to visit on a day trip, we recommend going to Mafra National Palace. Expect big, furnished rooms from a different era and a breathtaking library and church.
Bairro Alto
Nightlife district, expect good fun in one of the most iconic places in Lisbon. Great places to eat and great bars for drinking your night away.
Cervejaria Ramiro
One of the best places for seafood in Lisbon! Visit, if you have the opportunity.
Rosa da Rua
One of my favourite restaurants in Bairro Alto, perfect for a night out. Really good buffet with traditional home made food.
Pastéis de Belém
The best Natas (Portuguese custard tarts) in Lisbon! Very traditional recipe, established in 1837
Belém Tower
Belém Tower is a 16th-century fortification located in Lisbon that served both as a fortress and as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. It was built during the height of the Portuguese Renaissance. Very close to the Jerónimos Monastery.
Jerónimos Monastery
The Jerónimos Monastery is a former monastery of the Order of Saint Jerome near the Tagus river in the parish of Belém. One of the most decorative churches of Portugal, it will capture your imagination and well worth a visit if your planning a day trip to the Belém area.
Ribeira d'Ilhas beach
One of the most beautiful beaches near Ericeira on the west coast. Very popular surfing spot, waves can be big.
Beach Pescadores
Very beautiful beach, waves are smaller than at Ribeira das Ilhas. Lots of space and worth a visit if you fancy a walk along the coast.
Quinta da Regaleira
This is my personally favourite place in Sintra! Lots of tunnels to explore, this Quinta feels like a magical place, worth visiting if you are doing a day trip to Sintra.
Castelo dos Mouros
Hilltop medieval castle from the 8th and 9th centuries, this place offers one of the most stunning and panoramic views of the municipality of Sintra, and on a clear day of Mafra and Ericeira. Quite steep climb, but well worth the effort.
