In grade 12, Brandon moved to the same high school as Kent, where they played next to each other on the defensive line for the football team and shared many classes. When Brandon moved to Edmonton, Kent moved in with Brandon and his wife, Paige, during the first year of Kent and Joanne’s relationship. Bridesmaid
Christy once said to Joanne: “family by blood, friends by choice”, to describe their relationship. As cousins, Christy and Joanne grew up together at the lake. In between tubing, building tree forts, and having sleepovers, Christy and Joanne would day dream about their future weddings. This included what they would wear and of course standing by each other’s sides on the big day. As they had pictured in childhood, Joanne had the honour of standing next to Christy in 2024 during her and her husband Jordan’s wedding and Christy will do the same for Joanne and Kent in 2026. Joanne could not imagine a wedding day without Christy.
