We're planning to make it official!

We met on Facebook dating. Joanne here — I remember the day I created my profile and decided to expand my dating pool to include women. Not long after, I swiped right on Katiana. I actually squealed and closed my eyes as I did it! After bonding over Harry Potter, travel, and card games, we decided to meet up in person. She was late — and over the years, I’ve learned that Katiana truly has no concept of time. I was so nervous on our first date and spent forever getting ready, but I’m so glad she showed up. It definitely wasn’t my most composed evening — I did the most, made a few new friends, and somehow ended up with so many free shots that I started handing them back to the bartender. But I just remember laughing, having so much fun, and feeling something special that night.

Katiana here, and it’s my turn to share. After a couple weeks of texting, I finally worked up the courage to ask Joanne out because I just had to meet this amazing woman in person. Luckily for me, she said yes. We planned to meet at A4 Arcade at 8:00 PM, and in true fashion, I was late… very late. (Before you judge me too harshly, I was having a full-blown outfit crisis and fighting for my life trying to get my fro together.) I finally arrived around 8:30 — but not before sending several apologetic texts. The second I saw her, none of it mattered anyway. She was somehow even more beautiful in person. We grabbed drinks, did a couple Jell-O shots, and instantly fell into easy conversation like we’d known each other forever. At some point, we made friends with a lively group of queers sitting beside us, who quickly decided they were invested in our love story and started buying us drinks. One girl in particular seemed especially taken with Joanne, and after some very enthusiastic flirting, I finally had to interrupt and let her know this was actually our first date. Naturally, she celebrated the news by sending over another round. The rest of the night felt a little magical. We danced, sang, played arcade games, and somewhere between all the laughter and chaos, we shared our first kiss. It was the perfect beginning to our forever.
