Come take a journey through Josh and Joanne's relationship and relive the pivotal moments that God used to bring about this blessed union between them.
On this date, Josh and Joanne met for the very first time at Six Flags Great Adventure. They were both highly involved in Indian Christian Fellowship (ICF), a faith-based club at Rutgers University, and it was through this ICF trip to Six Flags where they started their wonderful journey. It was also the day Josh first had a crush on Joanne.
Josh and Joanne's freshman year, though cut short by Covid, was one that they both immensely enjoyed. They both were a part of the same friend group in ICF, which meant that they saw each other a lot. Josh had liked Joanne from afar but never confessed his feelings for her during this time. He did give her some signs though, as he would often sit next to her in group settings and would do her financial accounting homework, not caring whether or not his homework got done. If there was anything that would get Josh more time to talk to Joanne, he would make sure not to miss that opportunity.
On this date, Joanne finally developed feelings for Josh. Joanne had been a part of the ICF worship team as a singer since their freshman year, and Josh had finally joined in their sophomore year to play piano. Josh joined in for his first practice and Joanne had new feelings for him. Both being on the worship team now meant that they would have even more time to spend together to further their relationship. The first song they did together was "Promises" by Maverick City.
After spending their whole sophomore year online due to Covid, Josh and Joanne were finally back on campus for their junior year. As their whole friend group was itching to hang out with each other after being apart for so long, Josh and Joanne's friendship continued to bloom and would eventually turn into something more...
On this date, Joanne agreed to be Josh's girlfriend. Along the way, there were a few ups and downs, but after much individual growth and maturing in their relationships with God, they realized that they wanted to pursue a relationship with each other centered on God.
Josh and Joanne's relationship took off and although they had only one semester left at Rutgers, they made sure to enjoy every bit of it with one another. They went to the movies, went out for dinner, and spent time talking and getting to know all the little details that they didn't share as friends before. Dating one another became such a blessing for both of them and allowed their last semester to be their best semester.
On this date, Josh and Joanne's families had their first dinner together alone, with each other. While both families had met on separate occasions, whether it be at Rutgers conferences, charity events, or Easter celebrations, they never had the time to sit down with just each other and get to know one another more intentionally. Josh and Joanne were excited and nervous at the same time as they both wanted everything to go well. Needless to say everything went perfectly, both their parents and their sisters all got along very well and have since grown a lovely relationship between each other.
Now that Josh and Joanne's families had become acquainted with one another, things started to move very fast and both Josh and Joanne knew where they wanted this relationship to go. They had many talks about marriage and although they were concerned that they may be too young, they realized that spiritually and emotionally they were ready. The only thing stopping them was Josh putting his money where his mouth was and putting a ring on Joanne's finger.
On this date, Josh did just that, and finally popped the question! It was a beautiful sunny Saturday, and Josh had everything planned out. Following an eventful morning which included a nice walk, devotional time with the Lord, and lunch prepared by Josh himself, he took Joanne to the New Jersey Botanical Gardens in Ringwood, NJ. Here he took her throughout the garden to all the various blooming flowers. Finally arriving at his planned spot, he held her hands and professed his love for her and his intentions and desire to marry her. Joanne couldn't stop smiling as Josh got down on one knee and asked those four magical words, "Will you marry me?" She said yes and the two of them were overjoyed, not being able to believe how far God had taken them. They went home and Josh surprised her by having both of their families waiting for them to celebrate this much awaited engagement.
Following getting engaged, Josh and Joanne were met with so much love and happiness from all their family and friends around them. God brought them into a new season of life in which they would get to experience so much joy in preparing for a new chapter in their lives.
On this day, Josh and Joanne will get married!!! Reflecting on everything they've been through, since October 26, 2019 when they first met, they can't help but express so much gratitude to God for bringing them to this place where they will be joined by Him in this beautiful covenant He designed called marriage. Josh and Joanne can't wait to see all their friends and families so that they can celebrate this joyous occasion!
