Surly is located near the Prospect Park stop on the Green Line train. It has a beautiful outdoor area with games and greenery, plus delicious pizza and a wide variety of beer.
Minnehaha Park is one of our favorite places to go in the summer. Located near the 50th St. stop on the Blue Line train, the park is home to the Minnehaha Falls -- the most-photographed site in Minnesota. This natural waterfall feeds into the Mississippi River, and is surrounded by a 167 acres of park area. While you're checking out the Falls, grab some lunch or a drink at Sea Salt. It's a perennial favorite with delicious seafood, and a wide variety of beer and wine on tap.
The Endless Bridge at the Guthrie Theater offers a (free!) fantastic, 180 degree view of Minneapolis. You can look out over the Mississippi River, the St. Anthony Falls, the Stone Arch Bridge, and the Mill City Ruins park, just to name a few. While you're in the area, you can also check out the Mill City Farmer's Market (Saturday from 8AM-1PM), and the Mill City Ruins Park and/ or museum.
Play a game of lawn bowling and grab a pint in Minneapolis's own little corner of the UK.
You're gonna make it after all... to see this statue of Mary Tyler Moore's iconic hat toss, located in Nicollet Mall.
Rent a bike or walk around the chain of lakes that include Lake Bde Maka Ska, Lake Harriet, and Lake of the Isles.
Check out the Basilica of St. Mary, the first Basilica in America. Discover this landmark building’s rich history and marvel at its awe-inspiring art and architecture. Open to the public every day, with free, 15 minute tours after the 9:30 and 11:30am Masses on Sundays.
The MIA is one of our favorite places in the city. It's free to attend, and there is art from all eras and styles inside. Every time we go, we find a new corner to explore. If you work up an appetite after exploring the MIA, check out Eat Street on Nicollet Ave, which is located just a short walk away!
Although this is a little further away from the center of the city, Hola Arepa is our favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. It's amazing.
