Take a ride (about $8 round trip) from Seattle to Bainbridge (35 min). Walk into downtown bainbridge (Winslow) and explore the shops and cafes.
Fun place to see salmon ladders and the boats going from the lake to the sound. Lots of good restaurants and breweries in Ballard as well.
Wonderful museum and display of Chihuly glass - also try a glass blowing class and explore Seattle Center (space needle, museum of pop and music, fountain - be prepared for kids to get wet)

For an adventure outside of Seattle for a day or overnight - take the clipper to Victoria and spend a day exploring the fun town. Beautiful gardens to explore, great museum, and fun boat ride. Don’t forget your passport!

Historic German town a few hours northeast of Seattle. Also great for a day of tubing on the water.
Just over the Canadian border (about 2 hours north of Seattle) White Rock is a beautiful town with good fish and chips and a great walking area down by the water. There is even a long wooden pier with incredible views.
